Where is the love???

Foreigners are well known for falling in love with Spaniards. Some of them say it’s the lust for life that first attracted them to Spanish partners, and many Spaniards cite admiration for their foreign partners’ independence. And then there are those who just fall for that nice, friendly, very good looking person who happens to be from Spain.
They’re all valid reasons for forming an international partnership, but what about the consequences of not going out with the boy or girl next door?
The honeymoon period in a guiri-Spanish relationship, which inevitably includes romantic walks in the Retiro, starry-eyed tapas in La Latina and several V.O. snogging sessions at the Ideal often coincides with the foreign partner’s honeymoon period in their relationship with Spain. They love going out until 7am, smoky bars are positively continental, and the noise of central Madrid is just “hustle and bustle”.
So what happens when things get a little more permanent, in terms of both relationships?
If the couple has spent the beginning of the relationship in their respective countries, the time will eventually come to change job, country and language, for love. But not always the love is so stronger…
Some foreingners think that working in Madrid and learning Spanish will be very good for his career .But where is love?

Mucha gente busca una solución externa a su problema con el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera. Creen que un método, una academia o un profesor le van a dar lo que necesita. No se le ocurre pensar que la solución definitiva está dentro de uno mismo. Nadie se hace con un buen nivel en otro idioma sin dedicarle entre dos y tres mil horas de estudio y uso en situaciones prácticas. Hay métodos mejores que otros, pero todos producen buenos resultados si el alumno les dedica las horas recomendadas. Sin embargo, no lo hace, y esto le convierte en un alumno eterno que se limita a hacer incursiones puntuales de poca monta en busca de una solución. Al final, su falta de dedicación y trabajo, y la búsqueda constante de una solución externa, benefician al sector de las academias. El alumno no parece enterarse de que las cosas valiosas en la vida sólo se consiguen a través de mucho esfuerzo.
